This is nursing

making the difference in people’s lives

Nurses play a vital role in the health and wellbeing of patients and their families – providing help when they need it most.

Learn healthcare theory and practical skills from our team of professional nurses. You’ll also gain essential clinical experience through work placements and simulation suites.

Choose from a three-year BSc or four-year MNurse, which includes an additional Master’s year. You can also choose from a range of different nursing disciplines, including associate, adult, child, and mental health nursing.

On graduation you could secure immediate local employment as a nurse and start making a positive difference to people’s lives straightaway.

All our nursing courses are approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council

This means you can apply to join the NMC register on graduation, enabling you to practise as a nurse in the UK.

Where nursing can take you

Students are joining nursing education at an exciting time for the profession. New nursing standards are replacing old, nursing is high on the global political agenda and 2020 has been declared the Year of the Nurse and Midwife by the World Health Organisation.

It's a rewarding career which provides constant opportunities for professional growth, leadership development and collaborative working. Nurses often work in teams, providing care directly to patients in hospitals, operating theatres, clinics, schools and patient's homes.

As a registered nurse you'll have plenty of options to specialise in areas such as:

  • forensic nurse
  • prison nurse
  • paediatric nurse
  • occupational health nurse
  • army nurse
  • nutrition and fitness nurse
  • mental health nurse
