Our appointments are impartial and confidential and are open to University of Bradford students and recent graduates. We are available to help and look forward to supporting you with your careers queries.

Careers appointments Semester One - Autumn 2021

We are now pleased to be offering appointments on campus again from Monday 27 September alongside remote options via email, phone and video.

All appointments from Monday 20 September will be bookable through our new Handshake Career Centre portal

  • In line with University guidelines, we recommend that you wear a face covering whilst in the Careers space and during your appointment; hand sanitiser will be available in all appointment spaces.
  • Please don't attend an appointment in person if you are feeling unwell - rebook for a later date or let us know and we can change your appointment to a phone, video or email session.
  • For the time being, all appointments must be booked in advance to allow for social distancing and cleaning, etc.

Quick queries (15 minutes)

Quick queries appointments available every weekday from 10:00–12:00 and 13:00-15:00. 

Appointments on campus in the Careers space in Student Central, or by phone or video (choose your preference when booking).

We can help you with:

  • Getting initial feedback on your CV or covering letter
  • Developing your CV
  • Researching your career

  • These are initial information sessions, so at the end of your 15 minutes, you may be referred to a longer guidance appointment for more specialist advice.

30-minute appointments available every weekday  

Appointments on campus, or by phone or video call to answer your queries (choose your preference when booking).

We can help you with:

  • finding and applying for part-time jobs
  • feedback on your CV or covering letter
  • getting started with any aspect of your career planning
  • finding work experience or internships
  • finding and applying for your industrial placement year
  • feedback on your personal statement or application form questions
  • a general discussion on how to prepare for an interview

45-minute guidance appointments are available every weekday  

Appointments on campus, or by phone or video call to answer your queries (choose your preference when booking).

We can help you with:

  • exploring your career ideas and the range of options open to you
  • getting feedback on your CV and covering letter
  • preparing for an interview
  • a mock interview (please be aware mock interviews need to be booked at least two days in advance to allow us to prepare)
  • preparing for assessment centres
  • exploring course difficulties and a possible course change

MBA guidance appointments

Our experienced and professional career consultants Hermione Berry, Beverley Thomas and Kenneth Howgill offer appointments for MBA students.

Appointment Information

Please note:

  • Please book your appointment in advance through Handshake Career Centre.
  • In line with University guidelines, we recommend that you wear a face covering whilst in the Careers space and during your appointment; hand sanitiser will be available in all appointment spaces; don't attend in person if you feel unwell.
  • You cannot get support for academic course work through these appointments. Contact your module tutor directly if you require any help with an assignment. You can also get study skills help from the Academic Skills Advice service.

Keeping records:

  • We encourage you to take your own notes at your guidance appointments. Any notes a career consultant takes in your appointment are stored confidentially and destroyed after two years in accordance with the University confidentiality policy. 
  • We keep a confidential record of your visit on our client database. This helps us to keep in touch with you and is limited to the nature of your enquiry.
