About our learning community from the Head of Department
We are a community that believes that study, research and practical application of knowledge can enable us all to build a fairer and more sustainable world. If the status quo is not working for people and for the planet, then the task of a university is to challenge and change that status quo. The world needs new thinking, provided by changemakers, peacemakers, policy-makers and, sometimes, trouble-makers!
Our staff are drawn from a wide range of disciplines and many have significant professional experience in government, international organisation and in the non-profit sector. We draw on that depth of practical knowledge when devising and delivering courses that will help you make and lead the change that is needed in the world.
