Biography

Dr. Serag El Hegazi (Serag) is a Lecturer in Project Management at the MSc Project Planning and Management. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Bradford for a body of work focusing on Sustainability Development and Smart Cities. He has a Master's Degree in Project Planning and Management, BSc (Hons) In Civil Engineering from the Applied Science University. Serag is also a Graduate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. His research interests focus on sustainable development in the MENA region and the development of sustainability elements indicators and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the local level of local government.

Serag is experienced in the management and leadership of teaching and has in-depth program enhancement, leadership, and development experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. During his MSc and Ph.D. journey at the University of Bradford, he has been involved in organizing and participating in several events. These included working with different groups for fundraising and international day events. These activities included World Toilet Day, Holocaust, and other Genocide Memorial Day, and the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals Awareness day.

Currently, He is a member of the Development Studies Association (DSA) and he has participated in a number of conferences including presenting several papers including, DSA 2018 - Manchester University, DSA 2020, Good institutions or good leadership in regards to sustainable development and the Doctoral Conference at the school of management in the University of Bradford.

Teaching interests

As a Lecturer in Project Management, Serag teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and also supervises Students on their MSc dissertations. Currently, Serag has module leadership responsibilities which include preparing and designing teaching materials and assessments focusing on project management modules. He utilizes innovative tools and techniques to maximize student engagement. Serag has (or has had) module leadership responsibility for the following modules:

Project Finance and Appraisal

Project Management Methodologies.

Introduction to Research Methods.
