This is Optometry
a clear vision
We'll give you both the scientific knowledge and the clinical, patient-centred experience you'll need to become a practising optometrist.
The emphasis is on the optometric service to patients. As a student you will see patients in the University's on-campus Eye Clinic and gain experience at local hospitals, where you will work with senior ophthalmologists.
You'll be taught by qualified optometrists with broad experience in optometric practice and teaching. Our staff are also actively involved in academic research, with which you may become involved in your final year.
Accreditation and rankings
Our programme is accredited by the General Optical Council and enables you to progress towards practising as a registered optometrist - you will need to complete a year's pre-registration training after graduation in order to do this.
The University of Bradford is ranked 6th in the UK for Optometry, Ophthalmics and Orthoptics in the Complete University Guide Subject League Table 2023.
