Understanding and improving our world

Our social science programmes tackle the big issues facing global society - war and peacebuilding, crime and justice, and how society functions and develops.

We work closely with government, research councils and industry along with multilateral organisations such as the United Nations, the World Bank, Rotary and others.

You will learn in a vibrant research-led environment, with a commitment to teaching excellence. You will graduate with the skills required for a range of different roles, allowing you to make a real difference on a global level.

Meet our students and alumni

This is where I tackle injustice

"Criminology and Criminal Behaviour is a very open book as I could say. The modules can vary from ‘what is crime?’ to 'forensic psychology'. I didn't know the possibilities that it was going to take me to. It's like looking at a tree with all its branches. There's so many, it's unreal."

Brad, BA (Hons) Criminology and Criminal Behaviour

This is where I'm inspired to change the world

"So, my favourite part about studying Sociology is definitely learning about myself, my identity, my background, and how it shaped me, giving me the opportunity to just develop as a person."

Karolina, BA (Hons) Sociology
