Start your legal career
Our specialist LLBs allow you to study for a qualifying law degree. They give you the legal tools needed to practice law and provide exemption from the academic stage of training for those who wish to qualify as solicitors or barristers.
Our Legal Advice Clinic allows you, in your final year, to provide real legal advice to members of the public and experience the justice system in operation. Mooting sessions and mock courtroom situations allow you to develop your skills and confidence.
You can study your degree over three years, or over four years with a sandwich professional placement year in industry, and tailor your studies to focus on emerging interests / career aspirations.

New mock court
The University has recently opened a state-of-the-art mock court.
The facility, which is based within the law department on our main City Campus, was opened by renowned judge Lady Brenda Hale in January 2020.
It provides our students with the unique opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a courtroom and develop their professional legal skills in a realistic setting, meaning they will graduate ready to step into the world of work and with experience in a courtroom behind them.
The court is open to students from across the University, including those training to become social workers, psychologists, criminologists, health care professionals and forensic scientists.

This is where
...I became my own person
Ifrah Asif - LLB Law
"My course is about looking at loads of different areas of the law. Last year we looked at contract law, and we looked at how the UK is structured in terms of the courts, the judges and how the law is actually made and stuff.
This year we’ve gone in more depth and looked at criminal law and tort law, which looks at personal injury, negligence and things like that. We’ve looked at human rights, EU Law and the implications of Brexit and different perspectives of everything."

This is where I built a platform
Hamza Khan, LLB Law
"The Law Society actually offers quite a few things, especially in terms of debating and mooting and going to London to see places like the House of Commons. They were nice places to visit, a good experience.
The debates organised by the Law Society were usually against people from our year group and the ones that did really well, they went to national competitions and stuff."
