This 3-year BEng degree equips you with the underlying knowledge and skills you need to become a creative Civil and Structural Engineer, capable of planning, designing and overseeing the construction of sustainable structures and transport infrastructure systems.

Civil and Structural Engineering involves the design, construction, and maintenance and repair of infrastructure such as roads and bridges, buildings, and underground transport systems.

You’ll develop a broad knowledge of geotechnical, structural, environmental and management aspects of civil engineering, and gain the computing, mathematical, drawing and communication skills you need as an engineer.

A placement year in industry, taken in year three of the programme, enables you to build contacts whilst developing your skills and professional confidence.

On completion of the programme you’ll be able to enter range of graduate civil engineering roles. You’ll be joining a dynamic profession with a high demand for skilled graduates, and contribute to the prosperity of our society.

This 4-year BEng degree equips you with the underlying knowledge and skills you need to become a creative Civil and Structural Engineer, capable of planning, designing and overseeing the construction of sustainable structures and transport infrastructure systems.

Programme options

We also offer a 3-year version of the BEng programme without the 'sandwich' placement year in industry.

You may also be interested in our MEng Civil and Structural Engineering degrees. We offer a 4-year version of the MEng and a 5-year version with sandwich year. These programmes give you a Master's level degree on graduation, with the additional year enabling further study of the technical and managerial aspects of civil and structural engineering, and providing the fastest route to Chartered Engineer status.
