About the project
In 2005 the University launched the pioneering and award winning Ecoversity programme. Recognised nationally within and beyond the sector, it delivered substantial environmental improvements and social change reflective of the needs at the time.
Whilst proud of our achievements to date, we recognise the necessity to adapt our approach to reflect the changing international, national, and local challenges of climate change.
Sustainability forms part of the University’s four core objectives and the responsibility to monitor, manage and oversee our success sits within the governance of the Project Board for the Sustainable Development Programme.
Embracing the UNs 17 Sustainable Development Goals, our programme will address the wide-ranging challenge of climate change and a UK target of net zero by 2050 within four key areas of University activity.
We are about informed behaviour change. Stuart McKinnon-Evans, Chief Finance Officer & Project Board Sponsor
Meet the team
Our team works closely with internal and external partners to deliver our sustainable initiatives. Our partners include Bradford Metropolitan District Council, West Yorkshire Combined Authority and many local charities and organisations. In addition to these partnerships, we engage with our student community through their elected sabbatical officers and have recruited a number of student Green Ambassadors who run environmental projects throughout the year.
