DSA Refund Grants

Students who receive Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) and wish to buy a computer using their allowance are required to pay for the first £200 of the cost of a computer themselves.

The University has decided to offer financial assistance to help you with this cost. Once you have bought your computer, you can use this form to request a £200 non-repayable one-off University grant to be paid to you to help with this cost.

How do I apply?

You can apply for the DSA Grant online.

The online form will tell you what evidence you need to provide to support your application. You will not be able to complete the online form until you have the required evidence available to upload.

Please note - new students who are due to join us in September 2022 are unable to apply for the DSA Refund Grant until they have fully enrolled on to their course, and have started their studies with us. Continuing students who were registered with us in the 2021/22 academic year can still apply for the DSA Refund Grant, and do not need to wait until they have re-enrolled.

Who can apply?

You must be receiving Disabled Students’ Allowance through Student Finance or an NHS bursary, and have been recommended a computer as part of your assessment. You must also be fully enrolled at the University and be attending your course during the 22/23 academic year.

What supporting evidence do I need to provide?

We need to see evidence of your DSA funding and proof of purchase of a laptop or computer.

What happens if I don’t provide all the requested evidence?

Then we will not be able to process your application.

How long will it take to assess my application?

Our average application processing time is 4 working weeks from the time and date it is received. If we need further evidence from you, this may take longer.
