Professor Liz Breen
School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, University of Bradford, Bradford, UK
Liz is the current Director of the Digital Health Enterprise Zone, an innovation facility based at the University of Bradford. She is also Professor in Health Service Operations in the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences. Liz is deputy lead for the Safe Use of Medicines theme in the Yorkshire and Humber Patient Safety Translational Research Centre. Liz’s research focuses on improvement in healthcare eco-systems to improve access to medicines and patient safety.
Dr Kristina Medlinskiene
School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, University of Bradford, Bradford, UK.
Kristina is Associate Professor in Pharmacy Practice and programme lead for Foundation Training Consortium (FTC). The FTC is a partnership between University of Bradford, Imaan Healthcare, and Buttercups Training to deliver supplementary training to hospital trainee pharmacists in the North of England. She is also Educational Programme Director for foundation training at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Kristina’s research focuses on implementation of new medicines and services in healthcare, medicine optimisation, and pharmacy education.
Professor Peter Gardner
School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, University of Bradford, Bradford, UK.
Peter is a psychologist by background with particular interests in human factors and human interaction with organisational systems and technology. He has a long history of working on applied issues particularly with a health focus and more specifically in areas related to patient safety. Peter joined the University of Bradford in February 2020 following 25 years of working at the University of Leeds most recently as the Head of School in Psychology.
Currently, Peter is co-Principal Investigator with Jon Silcock on an NIHR funded Programme Grant for Applied Research entitled "Improving the Safety and Continuity of Medicines Management at Transitions of Care (ISCOMAT)". This is a £2m project lasting 5 years which has used Experience Based Co-Design methods to help design an intervention for improving medicines management following discharge from hospital for patients diagnosed with Heart Failure.
Dr Justine Tomlinson
School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, University of Bradford, Bradford, UK.
Justine is an Assistant Professor involved in the teaching of both Physician Associates and Pharmacists. She is a pharmacist by background, with experience in both hospital and community settings. She has, since 2016, been involved in a variety of research projects, including her own PhD focusing on medication safety for older people at transitions of care.
Dr Giorgia Previdoli
Honorary Visiting Researcher, School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, University of Bradford, Bradford, UK
Expertise: medicines management for older people, intervention co-design, patient and public involvement in healthcare research
Dr Giorgia Previdoli is a research fellow on a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) funded project, called RESI-Med, that aims at enhancing medicines management resilience in home-dwelling older people living with frailty.
She joined the Centre for Applied Dementia Studies at the University of Bradford in 2018.
In 2020 she worked on a study, led by Dr Andrea Capstick, exploring the experience of care home staff caring for people living with dementia during the first wave of the Coronavirus pandemic. The results were published in August 2022 and formed the basis of a stage play, Voices from the Frontline.
Since 2021 she has joined the Yorkshire Quality and Safety Research group. As part of RESI-Med, Giorgia is now working with patients and healthcare staff to co-design an intervention aimed at making medicines management safer for older people.
