Carer and child.

We believe in a child-led learning environment; our children are able to choose their own learning activities, such as building with blocks, playing with natural materials, or painting.

Our team then supports your children's development, extending their knowledge and understanding, offering support and guidance to build on your child's moment of curiosity and wonder.

This approach allows each child to learn in a way that best fits their individual needs, supporting them to show their potential within their early years' education.

Awards and Accreditations

Here at the University of Bradford Nursery, we are constantly building upon our existing knowledge and training to ensure that each and every child in our care receives the best possible start to their early years education. We aim to always go above and beyond the national standard, and as such, we have recently been awarded the following awards and accreditations:

nasen Early Years Provision of the Year award

We were thrilled to be awarded 'Early Years Provision of the Year' in October 2023 by nasen (National Association for Special Education Needs and Disabilities). This national award celebrates our outstanding work in supporting children with special educational needs, learning differences and/or disabilities, allowing them to reach their full potential. We were recognised for our determination to create a communication-friendly and inclusive setting, making adjustments across our provision to suit every child's individual needs.

Millie's Mark

We were delighted to be awarded Millie's Mark in 2023. This special endorsement is given to childcare providers who go far above and beyond the national standard when it comes to paediatric first aid. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines, which childcare settings in England are required to follow, state that just one person with a current paediatric first aid certificate must be on the premises and available at all times when children are present or on outings. In undertaking the training and being awarded the Millie's Mark accreditation, the University of Bradford Nursery trained 100% of staff trained in paediatric first aid.

SCKIN Sun Safe

In addition to our nasen award and Millie's Mark accreditation, we also are proud to have completed our SCKIN Sun Safe Nurseries Accreditation. The accreditation programme has been developed by national melanoma and skin cancer charity ‘Skcin’ to assist nurseries and pre-school settings in their duty of care to safeguard children against the dangers of Ultraviolet Radiation (UVR) and educate early learners on the importance of sun safety to influence behaviours.
