Expertise: Childhood, physical activity, health in children

Dr Andy Daly-Smith is a reader in physical activity and healthy childhood. He leads the childhood theme at the Wolfson Centre for Applied Health Research, a collaboration with the University of Bradford, NHS Bradford Teaching Hospitals and the University of Leeds. He is also heavily involved in Born in Bradford, an internationally-recognised research programme, and is Research Director for the Sport England funded programme, Join Us: Move Play programme

 His research focuses on the design, development and evaluation of behaviour change interventions for physical activity and health in children. Recently, Dr Daly-Smith led the co-development of the first UK-based whole-school physical activity framework with 50 regional, national and international stakeholders. The model has been widely adopted across the UK to drive systems change for health and physical activity within schools and has been adopted by 200+ schools across 18 localities. In May 2018 he co-delivered a TED talk on Education talk on physically active learning.
