Published:

The University of Bradford has appointed Stuart McKinnon-Evans to be its new Chief Finance Officer.

Stuart will replace Angela Phillips who has been working in a part-time interim position since July 2017.

Stuart has extensive experience in financial leadership having previously held a number of senior jobs with strategic and advisory responsibility and oversight, operating in complex and politicised environments. His experience has been within large, multi-service organisations including the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council and the Department for Work and Pensions, where his portfolio has concerned areas such as corporate resources, welfare benefits, spending reviews and financial planning. Stuart is familiar with the education sector having also worked in schools and colleges.

Stuart is a welcome addition to the senior team. He arrives at an important time as the University starts its investment-led growth. His expertise and guidance will be a great help, supporting the setting up of the Bradford Medical School, the Learning Hub and the STEM Nucleus. Stuart will start in post in February 2018.

Stuart said: “I am delighted to be joining the University, at a time when it moves into its next phase of development. Drawing on my experience from other sectors, I am looking forward immensely to working with colleagues to keep the finances healthy as we deliver the University’s ambitions.

“I had a brilliant time here as a student – back in the day! – so am really pleased to contribute to its further growth , and to help make real its aspirations for students. The University has a pivotal role to play for Bradford as a place, and I feel my new role complements the six years I have spent as Bradford Council’s Chief Financial Officer.”
