Bradford PhD student is focal point of national award

Published:

Optometrist and University of Bradford PhD student, Corinne Fulcher, has been named the recipient of this year's Master's Medal from the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers (WCSM).

Ms Fulcher accepted the accolade at a special ceremony at London’s Apothecaries Hall. The award is given annually for the best initial “first author” published contribution to the advancement of optometry and physiological optics.

Ms Fulcher was recognised for her paper entitled Object size determines the spatial spread of visual time, which was published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B journal earlier this year.

The paper’s research forms part of Ms Fulcher’s PhD at Bradford, where she is exploring the processing of event duration in humans psychophysical techniques.

Earlier this year, Ms Fulcher was also awarded a prize for ‘Best Paper (oral presentation)’ at the British Congress of Optometry and Vision Science conference, which was hosted at Ulster University.
