Please can you start by introducing yourself and explaining your current role?

My current role is a project coordinator for Computacenter this entails various work such as helping project managers deliver the projects and engaging stakeholders. I am also in charge of a few small projects which includes writing statement of works and various other duties such as keeping the cost of budget, making sure the stakeholders are happy, and producing reports.

What inspired/motivated you to apply for this role?

I have always wanted to get into project management, and this motivated me to apply for a job that utilised my skills. In addition, I always had an interest in project management and always wanted to help deliver a successful project.

How would you describe your journey of finding a job?

I would describe my journey as very tough, to begin with, however, if you keep applying for jobs and having interview’s you are constantly learning, and eventually you will get a good job.

Tell us about how you got into the job and what the application process was like?

This job application was very straight forward I applied through a recruitment agency where they forwarded my CV to the company. I was then interviewed via skype.

Did you face any challenges in your career journey so far?

I have faced many obstacles and challenges in my career journey, which included rejections, however, I kept going and applying for other jobs.

I think it is vital to get work experience alongside your studies this will help you mature and open your mind to see what work life is really like, it will also help you financially and motivate you to progress in your career.

Was the location of the job ever a potential barrier stopping you from getting where you wanted to be?

The best thing about the job was that it was remote, which catered for my needs, also the company has various locations throughout the UK, which suited me.

Were you always interested in attending university? Why did you choose the University of Bradford?

I always wanted to go to university and get a degree and seek more knowledge. This led me to choose the University of Bradford because it had a high satisfaction rate from students and was a very good university to go to as it had a great atmosphere. The lecturers were very nice and would go above and beyond to help students.

What did you study at the University of Bradford? What made you choose that course?

I choose BEng Chemical Engineering because it was a very technical degree, and I was very interested in the topics and modules you would learn. It also had a great graduate prospectus and overall it was something that I was passionate about.

How did the University of Bradford/Career Service/Graduate Workforce Bradford Project support/guide you?

The University of Bradford really helped especially the Career and Employability team. They were very supportive and pushed me to achieve more. This spurred me on and made me work harder in securing a graduate job.

What advice would you give to our current students and graduates based on your experiences?

The advice I would give students is to be proactive rather than reactive and make sure they show genuine enthusiasm this will hopefully propel them into a career. Also, never give up on getting that dream job and get help from the CES team in regards to the applications.
