Belong in Bradford
The City of Bradford is a vibrant, diverse place that is unlike any other city in the United Kingdom. At its heart is the University of Bradford, where 52% of our students are from the local community, and 68% of our graduates progress into jobs within the West Yorkshire area, including Bradford.
As part of Unify Festival 2022, GWB successfully organised and hosted the 'Belong in Bradford' event. Many connections were made and ideas generated to help students on their road to graduate employment. Speakers Mark Clayton from Bradford Council, Zahra Niazi from BradfordForEveryone, Professor Udy Archibong, and Joanne Beaumont shared their knowledge of Bradford and the future of its diverse workforce.
Employers Relate and STRI shared their experiences of working with the university to recruit student interns and graduates.
Graduates and students spoke about securing placements and graduate employment with support from CES.

Community Events
On 18th November and 2nd December 2021, The Graduate Workforce Bradford project hosted the event ‘An insight into jobs in Bradford’ at WomenZone and KAWACC (The Keighley Association Women and Children Centre).
The event was led by project manager Urfan Faqir alongside project partners West Yorkshire Police, Skillshouse, NHS, and Bradford4Everyone. It provided the opportunity to inform the public of the current job market and address any misconceptions and questions.
“This event has had a big impact on what I would like to do as it’s helped me understand the type of jobs available out there”.
