'Being anti-racist is the only way forward'

A statement from the University of Bradford to mark the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on March 21, 2021.

The University of Bradford is proud to mark this important day.

We are taking action on racial discrimination and through our vision, mission, values, and our University Strategy, we are ensuring that our education, teaching and learning, research and general experiences for staff and students adopt an anti-racist stance.

However, we acknowledge there is still much to do and we have committed to building an anti-racist university. In developing our work to decolonise and build an anti-racist university, we know that being a diverse university is not enough. We also know that while diversity is part of the heritage we celebrate, that too is not enough. Being non-racist is not enough.

The United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is a moment for us all to proudly declare that being anti-racist is the only way forward.

We resolve to continue to develop and work to implement strategies that dismantle racism within all aspects of our University.
