Lord Mayor welcomes new international students

The Lord Mayor of Bradford has welcomed the University of Bradford's newest international students to the city.

Councillor Zafar Ali, alongside the University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Cantor, hosted more than 70 students at City Hall, who enjoyed a tour of the civic building and refreshments in the Banqueting Hall.

Among the countries represented by the students were Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Colombia, Egypt, Georgia, Greece, India, Japan, Jamaica, Kuwait, Liberia, Nepal, Pakistan, Japan, Spain, Tanzania, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Zambia, France, and Denmark.

The Lord Mayor said: “It was a real honour to be able to welcome the international students to City Hall, but in a wider sense to their new, albeit temporary, home here in Bradford. Their choice to study at our highly-regarded University is a wise one and with all that our district has to offer them, I am sure it is a decision that will continue to pay them dividends for years to come.”
