Bradford graduate recognised for contribution to education of women workers in Bangladesh

Working hard to convince factory owners to continue to pay wages while the women study is Mowmita Basak, MA International Development Management 2015, who was recently recognised in an article in The Guardian for successfully implementing change in her native Bangladesh that provides free degree courses to improve the prospects for female workers in Bangladesh's clothing factories.

The Asian University for Women (AUW) is an organisation that aims to educate the brightest young women with the greatest potential, and create a new generation of female leaders irrespective of their wealth or background.

This Guardian article looks at a new scheme by AUW to offer free degree courses to improve the prospects for female workers in Bangladesh’s clothing factories.

Mowmita Basak is one of the first AUW graduates and an alumna of the Centre for International Development at the University of Bradford.
