Bradford courses continue to be among world's elite

Published:

Two University of Bradford courses have again been ranked as some of the top in the world according to the latest QS World University Rankings.

The annual QS World University Rankings by Subject is a comprehensive guide to a range of popular subject areas, based on academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact. The rankings series reveals the top 200 universities in the world for 42 individual subjects.

The expert opinion of nearly 77,000 academics and over 44,000 employers informed the results, alongside the analysis of 28.5 million research papers and over 113 million citations. Over 4,200 universities were evaluated.

Bradford’s two courses that have retained their places in the top 200 from the University are Pharmacy and Pharmacology, and Development Studies, which is ranked in the top 100. This is the fourth time that Pharmacy at Bradford has featured in the top 200.

Bradford School of Pharmacy's origins date back to 1927 and it delivers a number of programmes with a strong emphasis on lifelong learning, taught and supported by dedicated staff. Bradford produces pharmacists who are fully equipped to practise within a dynamic healthcare system and can adapt to change and understand the need to commit to continuing education and professional development throughout their professional life.

Bradford’s Centre for International Development welcomes students from up to 30 different countries each year, and has a knowledge transfer portfolio that has resulted in work with organisations such as the Africa Development Bank and China Development Bank.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Brian Cantor, said: “The University of Bradford is very proud of the high-quality of our courses. These ranking results place Bradford alongside the very best universities in the world, and I’m delighted and proud that our courses have been recognised in this way."

The QS World University Rankings by Subject are compiled using indicators selected to assess institutions’ international reputation in each subject area, alongside research impact in the field. Reputation is assessed using QS’s major global surveys of academics and employers, while research impact is gauged using citations data from Elsevier's Scopus® bibliometric database.

Published since 2011, the rankings highlight the world’s top-performing institutions in a broad spectrum of individual academic areas. The rankings aim to help prospective students identify leading universities in their chosen field of study.
