The University of Bradford's Director of Human Resource and Organisational Development has scooped the top prize in her profession in Europe from HRO Today, the profession's worldwide magazine.

Joanne Marshall won the individual Chief Human Resource Officer of the Year award in the not-for-profit category at the HRO Today Awards Gala 2015 in Amsterdam, recognising her work at the University and previous roles in the NHS.

Director at University of Bradford since 2013, she has been responsible for the transformation of the HR function, with a new structure providing operational and strategic support to its business units, including ‘Service Now’ HR service centre, improving learning and development via the HR Academy, and creating a wellbeing programme, amongst other changes.

The awards honour professionals who demonstrate the highest levels of leadership and professional excellence.

Joanne said: “I am very proud and honoured to receive this award which is voted for by peers in the HR field across Europe. This award would not have been possible without all the hard work from the whole HR team and colleagues across the University of Bradford. Thank you all for your support and making this possible and it sets the standard for all the exciting challenges ahead.”
