Bradford experts in Yorkshire's 100 most influential people

Published:

The University of Bradford features in the Yorkshire Post's top 100 people who shape Yorkshire.

Iain Bloomfield, Head of Arts on Campus and Artistic Director of Theatre in the Mill at the University has been listed as one of the top 25 influential people on Yorkshire’s arts scene. The list focuses on the directors, authors, poets and performers who use Yorkshire as a base to consistently deliver work which can truly be described as world class.

Iain Bloomfield: Artistic director, Theatre in the Mill. Bradford’s Theatre in the Mill might not be Yorkshire’s biggest venue, but thanks to Bloomfield it’s not short on ambition. He moved to Bradford in 1997 where he developed and ran the Alhambra Studio. Appointed Fellow in Theatre at the University of Bradford in 2003, Bloomfield has been Head of Arts for the last seven years and is a great believer in the power of the arts to transform individuals and communities.

Also listed in the top 100, as one of the top business leaders, is Diana Anderson, Professor of Biomedical Science. Diana is Scientific Advisor to Oncascan and the chair of biomedical sciences at the University of Bradford. She set up her first company in 2011 at the age of 69, but what a company. Oncascan is developing a unique type of blood test for cancer which, used in conjunction with existing methods of screening and diagnosis, could greatly improve their overall outcomes for patients.

The Yorkshire Posts top 100 list shines a spotlight on the captains of industry, sporting icons and public servants who make the county great.
