Paul Febvre

The Bradford-Renduchintala Centre for Space AI is delighted to host the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) Visiting Professor of Intelligent Signal Processing: Paul Febvre.

As CTO of the Satellite Applications Catapult, Paul is responsible for leading the technology strategy and envisioning and driving the development of future satellite system concepts. Paul was previously System Design Authority at Inmarsat for 19 years and a satellite telecommunications research engineer at BT Research Labs for 12 years.

As RAEng Visiting Professor, Paul will contribute to:

  1. Strengthen our course content in ISP;
  2. Develop students’ professional skills including project management, business awareness, leadership and entrepreneurship;
  3. Work with Faculty staff to design and establish laboratories and projects that accelerate learning, and in creating opportunities for students to secure industrial placements

In addition, Paul will provide guidance and support the student-led Very-small-satellite Innovation Project (VIP) club to be launched in 2023.

Paul is the Chair of the Innovation and Skills Advisory Board of the Bradford-Renduchintala Centre for Space AI.

Why did I join the Innovation and skills advisory board?

I am passionate about the opportunities to improve lives through the applications enabled by satellite services and have dedicated my working life to this endeavour. The future of our sustainable economy both on earth and in space will be empowered by the ethical application of distributed computing and artificial intelligence, and I am thrilled that the Bradford Renduchintala Centre for Space AI intends to meld these disciplines in an environment which fosters the skills and innovation we need to achieve this future vision.
