Biography

Rob Redman joined Creative Industries (formerly Media Design and Technology) as an Associate Professor in Creative Technology after completing both Undergraduate and Masters’ degrees at the University of Bradford. He is currently working on finalising his PhD. 

Rob has been a student at UoB for 18 years and a full tiem member of staff for 10 (on August 1st 2025)

Rob is currently the programme lead for both of the Animation and Games programmes offered at UoB (BA Animation, BSc Game Design and Development), and is the current caretaker of the teachout on BA Graphics for Games, BSc Animation, BSc Film and VisualEffects Technology, and the pre-2024 build of BSc Game Design and Development.

Rob’s teaching and research interests are broadly video-game based. His specialties include Project management, Unreal Engine Game Creation, Creative Narrative and Writing, Rendering Systems and Pipelines, Playability and User-centric Testing, and Data and Telemetry acquisition.

You want anything on the history or design of almost any prevalent titles or franchise from the last 25 years? Rob has played it, has completely dominated it as an end user, watched an indepth 100percent playthrough, or seen it speed run, or knows someone who has!

With an impressive array of mods and games that are actually published or available to download online via Xbox Live and ModDB, Steam communities, you could say Rob *knows* games!
