Biography

Current position - Lecturer in Chemistry, University of Bradford

Past positions - Research Scientist at the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA) part of the UK Ministry of Defence - stealth material. Research Scientist for QinetiQ - advanced ceramics. Senior Scientist at ITRI, Taiwan- biomedical nanotechnology.

Current Research - The synthesis and application of nanoparticles. I am interested in the synthesis of metallic, bimetallic and magnetic nanoparticles and their application to unmet clinical needs. Primarily at the moment I am focused on cancer therapy using magnetic nanoparticles. Synthesizing particles with interesting shapes and structures to control their magnetic heating properties and then using these to understand the mechanisms involved in cancer cell death induced through magnetic field hyperthermia.
