Biography

John joined the ambulance service in 1998, working at Huddersfield Ambulance Station as an Emergency Medical Technician. He qualified as a paramedic in 2000 and spent five years as a paramedic at Halifax Ambulance Station. In 2005 he moved to Wakefield Ambulance Station, where he worked as a Clinical Team Educator. From 2008 to 2010 he worked as a clinical tutor in the Yorkshire Ambulance Service training centre in Wakefield teaching a wide range of courses and clinical skills to paramedics, ambulance technicians and support workers. On returning to front line duties he was seconded for four years as a Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) paramedic on the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.On completion of his secondment he returned to Huddersfield Ambulance Station as a Clinical Supervisor, supervising staff in the Calderdale and Kirklees areas of West Yorkshire. He still retains a bank contract as a relief paramedic on the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.John has completed postgraduate studies in education, research and advanced practice, and is a full member of the College of Paramedics.
