Biography

Dr. Farzaneh Fakhredin is a lecturer specializing in applied design engineering and circular economy research. Drawing on her PhD and industry collaborations, she works directly with companies and stakeholders to redesign products, develop sustainable tools, and test circular interventions in practice. Her work bridges research and action, translating theory into tangible outcomes while fostering co-creation and systemic change.

She has led projects that improved the recyclability and repairability of electronics products, several of which have successfully launched in the market. By embedding research within real-world organizational and product systems, she generates actionable insights that advance both knowledge and impact. Her expertise spans action research, co-creation and participatory research, research through design, participatory methods, living labs and pilots, embedded case studies, and longitudinal qualitative methods, all applied to enable circular and sustainable innovation.

Ultimately, she inspires and educates designers and business managers to recognize the power of their choices and decisions, and to intervene in, test, and reshape real systems to create actual change through intervention-based methodological approaches.
