Biography

Charles is a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales, having practiced in the areas of Company Law, Commercial Contracts, and Corporate Insolvency in the City. He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Risk and Contingency Management (IJRCM) which publishes interdisciplinary research papers and case studies that examine risk, uncertainty, and contingency planning. His areas of research include Corporate / Commercial Law, Insolvency and Data Protection. Charles has published a wide range of conference papers, articles, and books including Pearson’s Smith & Keenan’s Company Law, Smith & Keenan’s English Law and Globe Law & Business’ ‘Legal Risk Management, Governance and Compliance’ series. He has been a visiting scholar and an invited keynote speaker to universities and conferences across Europe and South East Asia. He has over twenty five years of experience in higher education, during which time he served as a member of the Law Society of Scotland’s (LSS) Education & Training Committee, acted as a representative of the Joint Academic Stage Board (JASB) and advised a range of public and private organisations. Charles has extensive experience of supervising both PhD and DBA students in the areas of Corporate / Commercial Law.
