Dr. Boakye Boampong

Biography

Dr Boakye Boampong is a lecturer in International Business and the programme leader for the BSc International Business and Management Programme at the School of Management. He holds a PhD in Development Economics from the University of Bradford, an MSc in Project Planning and Management, a PGCE in Education, a BSc (hons) in Land Economy, and a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Prior to joining the University of Bradford, Boakye worked as a teacher in Secondary education having achieved Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) from the Department for Education, UK. Boakye’s research interests include exploring the effects of project risk management on project success particularly in development project environments, international business expansion and adaptiveness, entrepreneurial orientation, strategic human resource management, stakeholder influence on project risk management and sustainable development. His work has been published in the Journal of International Development and he has successfully supervised several postgraduate dissertations across this area. Boakye is a member of several professional bodies (HEA, APM, CIPD) and has been invited to speak at Universities, Secondary Schools, Government departments and NGOs in Ghana, the UK, and France. As a professional teacher, Boakye adopts a practice-based approach to teaching and learning and was very instrumental in identifying and developing potential during his time as a teacher in secondary education. His teaching interests are in International Business Strategy, Cross-cultural Management, Human Resource Management and Development, and Project Management.

Outreach activities (1)

  • Having come from a teaching background, I have began liaising with other colleagues to initiate visits to local secondary schools to provide guidance for students in years 10, 11, 12 and 13 about pathways to higher education to serve as a motivation for them to consider higher education and to improve student outcomes.
