Overview
What if you could develop advanced expertise at the intersection of artificial intelligence, space technologies and global security?
Our MSc Artificial Intelligence, Space and Security Technologies will equip you with the knowledge and skills to work in this rapidly evolving field.
This interdisciplinary programme combines technical AI knowledge with an understanding of how emerging technologies are shaping global security, governance and international relations.
You will explore how artificial intelligence is applied in areas such as space data, satellite systems and advanced analytics, while also examining the wider implications of these technologies.
You will develop skills in machine learning, data analysis and applied AI, alongside an understanding of how these technologies are designed, deployed and used in real-world contexts. At the same time, you will engage with key issues such as ethics, governance, international security and responsible innovation.
As you progress, you will learn to evaluate the role of AI and space technologies within complex global systems, considering both their technical capabilities and their societal and strategic impacts. You will develop the ability to analyse emerging technologies critically and apply your knowledge to real-world challenges.
The programme prepares you for careers across technology, security, policy and research-focused sectors, as well as further postgraduate study in artificial intelligence, space systems and related interdisciplinary fields.

Teaching, learning and assessment
You will learn through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops and practical sessions, where you will develop both technical knowledge and critical understanding.
There is a strong emphasis on applying your learning to real-world challenges, including the use of case studies, data analysis and project work.
Teaching integrates perspectives from artificial intelligence, space technologies and global security. You will develop your understanding of advanced AI methods alongside their application in areas such as space data and systems, while also exploring the ethical, legal and governance dimensions of emerging technologies.
Throughout the programme, you will develop your ability to analyse complex problems from both technical and interdisciplinary perspectives. You will learn to evaluate how technologies are designed and used, and to consider their wider societal and strategic implications.
A major component of the programme is the dissertation or project, where you will apply your knowledge to a substantial, independent piece of work. This allows you to explore a specialist area of interest and demonstrate your technical, analytical and critical skills.
Assessment varies by module and may include coursework, technical reports, presentations, case study analysis and examinations. You will receive feedback to support your development, with assessments designed to reflect both technical practice and critical evaluation.
