Clearing

This is your time

What is Clearing?

Clearing is part of the UCAS application system.

It's another opportunity for you to find a place to start university this September.

You can use Clearing if you:

  • have changed your mind about what or where you want to study
  • got higher or lower grades than you expected
  • haven’t applied to study at university for September 2024 yet

You can use Clearing as soon as you have your results.

Once you have your results and have found a course you're interested in, you'll need to get in touch with us to find out if we can offer you a place.

If you get an offer from us, the next step is to add your Clearing choice through UCAS Hub – this counts as acceptance of our offer.

Search our courses and apply

Find a course you'll love. You can apply online or by calling our Clearing helpline.

Our Clearing helpline is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 - 17:00 (BST).

Clearing is not a reflection of your abilities or worth. It's an opportunity to find a different path that may lead you to great opportunities and experiences. Be proud of what you have achieved, stay positive and believe in yourself.

Clearing key dates

Clearing takes place between 5 July and 21 October.

Results Day for the majority of qualifications (A level, T level and BTEC) takes place in mid-August. This is always the busiest day of Clearing, with large numbers of students searching for university places.
