Biography

Sheikh Bilal Khan was born and raised in Bradford (UK) but has livedand worked globally with exposure to different international markets including theGCC/Middle East (MENA), South Asia, Central Asia and the Far East Asia. Hecurrently serves in multiple roles including as Assistant Professor of Law atthe University of Bradford; a Partner at McCarthy Denning, an international lawfirm which is headquartered in the City of London; and a Solicitor of theSenior Courts of England & Wales and a qualified English lawyer from a‘Magic Circle’ law firm. He also serves in a judicial capacity as an AdjudicatingArbitrator and Professional Mediator at the International Arbitration Centre (withother totable judges such as Sir Robin Jacob, Lord Phillips and leading KingsCounsel).

Sheikh Bilal is a special adviser to several Heads of State andState Officials (governments and parliaments) and has served in numerous postsas a Chairman, CEO, CIFO and Board Member (Board of Directors and Board ofManagement); Member of Inter-Governmental Commissions and Bilateral BusinessCouncils; Adviser, Coach and Mentor to HNWIs and CEOs of multinationals, ViceChairman of the Princes Trust International Leadership Program; Judge of the UKGovernment Sirius Programme and of the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards; UKGovernment Business Ambassador and an Honorary Investment Counsellor of theGovernment of Pakistan (appointed by the Prime Minister). Sheikh Bilal hasrecently served as a Director General and Secretary General of multilateralbodies and national institutions including as DG of the specialized institutionof the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the International IslamicFood Processing Association (IFPA) after being appointed by a Resolution of 57OIC Ministers of Food and Agriculture and he is currently also serving as aSecretary General of the Malta Islamic Finance Association.

Sheikh Bilal is a Freeman of the City of London and a recipientof multiple awards; a renowned public speaker at international conferencesand multilateral forums and a regular participant on major mass media channels.He was recently interviewed for the British documentary ‘Secrets of Success’ as1 of 20 leading personalities of London, which is now showing on the BritishAirways inflight documentaries. Sheikh Bilal has been a visiting lecturer at leadinginternational universities and is a graduate from British Universities in LL.B(Hons), L.P.C., M.A. (Islamic Banking, Finance and Management) and M.B.A.(Legal Services). He is also an experienced Islamic Shariah Scholar whomemorized the Holy Qur’an at the young age of 11 and is a graduate from Islamicinstitutions in Arabic and Islamic Studies (equivalent to B.A. and M.A.). He isa multi-lingual (English, Arabic and Urdu) and a multi-disciplinary expert.

Sheikh Bilal is a third-generation British citizen after hisgrandfather served in the British navy and then settled in Bradford while hislate father worked in the Bradford textile mills for over 3 decades. SheikhBilal is happily married with two beautiful daughters while his wife happens toalso be an Islamic Shariah Scholar emanating from Birmingham. Together theyenjoy the English countryside, travelling around the globe, learning about differentcultures and cuisines, conducting study circles, spending time with extendedfamily and doing charitable/community work.
