Biography

Dr Samuel Adomako is a lecturer in strategy and Entrepreneurship at the School of Management, University of Bradford. He was an assistant professor of entrepreneurship and innovation at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia. He was a graduate teaching Assistant at Warwick Business School, UK. Dr Adomako has a multidisciplinary academic background and holds degrees in Sociology, Management, and Entrepreneurship. His research centres on the cognitive processes supporting entrepreneurship, innovation and strategy. His research has appeared in reputable journals including Journal of Business Research, International Small Business Journal, International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of International Management, R&D Management Journal, and Business Strategy and the EnvironmentDr Adomako is an Associate Editor of The Journal of the International Council for Small Business (JICSB). He is currently serving as a guest editor for Technological Forecasting and Social Change Journal (ABS 3*). He also serves as an advisory board member and ad-hoc reviewer for many internationally refereed peer reviewed journals. His research has won multiple awards, including Best Empirical Paper Award (SME growth/performance track) at the 37th Institute Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE) Annual Conference, held in Manchester, 2014 and a winner of Emerald Literati Highly Commended Paper Award for a co-authorship in Managerial Finance Journal (2015). Dr Adomako is a regular speaker at international conferences on international business, strategy, entrepreneurship and innovation. His teaching interests include international business in emerging markets, new venture creation, strategy and international entrepreneurship. He received his Ph.D. from Warwick Business School, University of Warwick (AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA Accredited) and is a Fellow of  the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom.

Research

His research examines the nexus of entrepreneurship, innovation, and strategy within small businesses in emerging markets and analyzes the role of institutions in new venture creation or new business formation. His interests lie in the decision making process of small business international venturing. Particularly, Dr. Adomako is interested in how personality/psychological traits and perception of top executives/upper echelon influence firm strategic actions such as the choice of ownership in a firm’s foreign-market entry decision.
