Last chance to attend Yorkshire Day dinner dance for Bradford Crocus appeal

Published:

The University of Bradford is working with the Dubrovnik hotel to host a special Yorkshire Day dinner dance.

The dinner will be on Friday 1 August, and will include a three course menu and drinks reception. Tickets cost £20 per head, with at least £4 per ticket going towards the appeal. There will also be a Yorkshire raffle in celebration of Yorkshire Day and a live band – the Sultans of Swing.

The dinner is open to all, with the reception starting at 7pm and dinner served at 7.30pm. It will include the chance to meet Professor Laurence Patterson from the University and hear him talk about the Crocus Cancer Appeal and why it is so important.

The Bradford Crocus Cancer Appeal is a local charitable initiative between the University of Bradford, Yorkshire Cancer Research, the Telegraph & Argus Newspaper and the Sovereign Healthcare Charitable Trust. The aim is to improve the number of opportunities for the discovery and development of new cancer medicines by raising £1M for researchers at the University’s Institute of Cancer Therapeutics.

This will be used to increase the pace at which cancer medicines of the future can be discovered through the purchase of a specialist piece of equipment called a proteomics mass spectrometer.

Ned Basic, Owner of the Dubrovnik Hotel, said: “We are an Independent, family owned and managed hotel and are delighted to be supporting a local charity for such a great cause.

“We hope as many people as possible attend the dinner. It is set up be an evening full of fun and laughter with some great food and hopefully we will raise lots of money for the Bradford Crocus Cancer Appeal.”

Several companies have already donated raffle prizes, flowers and chocolates, as well as sponsoring a table.
