Embracing community: joining a society
Bradford Life

Joining a society can be a great way to follow your passions with like-minded people. Horhorli shares her experience as part of a society and tells us why you should consider joining one.

As a member of PENSA (Pentecost Students and Associates), I've had the privilege of experiencing the power of community, collaboration, and growth. Being part of a society has enriched my experience in countless ways, allowing me to forge lasting friendships, explore my interests, and contribute to something greater than myself.

Discovering community

Joining a society was one of the best decisions I made during my time at university. From the moment I attended my first meeting, I felt welcomed and embraced by a diverse group of individuals who shared a common passion for faith and fellowship. Whether it's through social events, workshops, or collaborative projects, the sense of belonging and camaraderie within PENSA has been truly uplifting.

My role and contributions

Everyone's roles differ and each role is integral to the successful running of a society.

Within PENSA, I've had the opportunity to take on various roles and responsibilities. From serving on the executive committee to organising events and leading workshops, each experience has taught me valuable leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. These roles have not only helped me develop professionally but have also allowed me to give back to the community and make a positive impact on others.

Activities and collaborations

One of the highlights of being part of a society is the diverse range of activities and collaborations we get to engage in. Whether it's organising worship programs, celebrating holidays like Valentine's Day, or collaborating with other PENSA chapters from different universities, there's always something exciting happening. Being part of a society has given me a sense of community and belonging.

These types of events not only provide opportunities for personal and spiritual growth but also foster connections and unity among members.

Studying the word and fellowship

At the heart of PENSA is a shared commitment to studying the word of God and fostering meaningful fellowship. Through Bible studies, prayer meetings, and worship sessions, we come together to deepen our understanding of faith, support one another in times of need, and celebrate our shared beliefs. These spiritual gatherings not only nourish our souls but also strengthen our bonds as a community.

Benefits and lessons learned

Being part of a society has taught me invaluable lessons and provided numerous benefits. From honing my leadership skills to expanding my social circle and deepening my faith, the experiences and opportunities I've gained have been transformative. Through collaboration, service, and personal growth, I've discovered the true value of community and the power of coming together for a common purpose.

Reflections

In conclusion, my journey with PENSA has been nothing short of extraordinary. From the friendships forged to the lessons learned and the memories made, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a vibrant and supportive community. As I continue on this journey, I look forward to further growth, collaboration, and shared experiences with my fellow members.
