Biography
I first experienced the academic
world when I completed an undergraduate degree in Chemistry at the University
of Bradford. However, upon graduation, I worked as a Band 5 recovery
coordinator for the local Early Interventions in Psychosis team. Whilst working
there, I completed a postgraduate qualification in Psychosocial Interventions
for serious mental illness at the University of York. My role as a Recovery
coordinator was life-altering. It was there I met and worked with Occupational
Therapists who put Occupation at the centre for recovery for very young adults.
Inspired by them and my clients’ recovery journeys, I returned to University to
pursue Occupational Therapy as a lifelong career.
I completed my BSc in Occupational
therapy at the University of Bradford. Since graduation, I have worked
for the local housing adaptations teams in both Adults and Paediatrics. In 2023, I
took up a lecturing post at the University of Bradford, where I teach on all
levels of the undergraduate programme; I am co-lead for the Occupational
therapy process model in year 1 and the Individual interventions module in year
2. In addition to my teaching duties, I am working closely with University
colleagues and healthcare partners outside the University to set up a
student-led multi-disciplinary teaching clinic. This is an exciting time for
our Occupational Therapy programme because the clinic will lead front-line
clinician-to-patient contact and provide additional opportunities for clinical
placements for our students.
Outside of my teaching commitments,
I love flower arranging, growing my cut flowers, horses, sewing and spending time with
my little family.
