Mohammed Alshurafa

Academic background:  Bachelor of Business Administration from the Islamic University of Gaza, Gaza Strip, Palestine.

Areas of interest: Peacebuilding, conflict resolution, violence mitigation, economic and community development.

Languages spoken: Arabic and English.

Mohammed, born and raised in the Gaza Strip, has over seven years of experience in the non-profit and private sectors in Palestine and abroad.

In 2020, Mohammed joined Cure Violence Global (CVG), a Chicago-based violence prevention non-profit, as part of the Atlas Corps Fellowship Program. Upon completing the fellowship, he spearheaded the organisation’s work in Palestine and Somalia. In 2022, Mohammed transitioned to a communications role at CVG, where he provided fundraising and communications support to advance the organisation’s mission in the United States.

Between 2017 and 2019, Mohammed worked as the Country Marketing and Communications Manager at Defacto in Palestine. In parallel, he supported award-winning startups in the Gaza Strip. He also served as the Alumni Leader for the Cultural Exchange Programs at the Palestinian Affairs Unit, US Embassy in Jerusalem.

In 2016, Mohammed was selected to participate in the Global Business Institute program at Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in the United States.

In 2014, Mohammed served at the American Friends Service Committee in an emergency intervention program to promote early economic recovery of the communities impacted by the war in Gaza.
