Experience days for Post 16 and Access to Higher Education

Our Higher Education Experience Days for Post 16 and Access to HE students can provide an insight into university study, student life, and career progression.

The full day programme will consist of an accommodation tour, a choice of an outreach workshop (listed below), and a subject specific activity. Students will also have the opportunity to meet an Adult learner Advisor and hear their experience of university study.

These will be delivered by our Outreach and Recruitment Team and include involvement from our current student ambassadors and academic team.

 Years 12-13 (or equivalent) workshops

Workshop Description
UCAS and personal statements This session will provide an introduction to the UCAS application process and look at some top tips for writing a personal statement, including gaining relevant experiences to support your application.
Student finance This session will include an overview of what financial support is available for university study, how to apply for financial support, and some top tips for living on a student budget.
Picking the right university and course for you Students find out more about what makes universities and courses different and how to choose the right course and university for them.
Student life Find out more about student life from our student ambassadors.
Interview skills Interactive workshop preparing students for a range of interview formats. We will go through the different types of interviews that you have at university along with covering some tips on what to expect, how to prepare, the research you can do prior to your interviews, and even what to wear.
Making the most of summer - supporting your UCAS application This workshop aims to prepare students for an effective summer, in preparation for their personal statement and UCAS applications.

Access to Higher Education workshops

Workshop Description
UCAS and personal Statements Interactive workshop advising on how to complete a personal statement for all subject areas. We will cover how to structure a good personal statement, what admissions staff are looking for, and how to make the most of previous work and personal experience.
Applying to health courses Personal statement and interview guidance specific for applying to health degree programmes. We will provide an insight into what Admissions staff are looking for and how to ensure that students make the most of previous work and personal experience
Student finance Find out more about student finance for adult learners.

We will go through the different types of interviews that you have at university along with covering some tops on what to expect, how to prepare, the research you can do prior to your interviews, and even what to wear.

Making the most of Open Days, Taster Days and Applicant Experience Days Find out how to get the best out of any visits to campus, who to chat to, what to see and hear from current students, what they did to ensure that they had all the information that they needed to make an informed decision about which university and course.

* The tour will show your students the main outside areas of the campus and its buildings, along with a look in our Student Central which is home to the Library and Students Union.

** Some subject specific sessions take longer than one hour. In this case programmes will include only one of these. Timings are indicated on the booking form.

Booking information

Minimum Number: 15 Students
Maximum Number: 60 Students

You can request a visit by completing our booking form.

You will receive a response from us within two weeks of your booking request confirming whether we can accommodate and deliver your request.

Please note that to enable us to offer your students the best experience we require bookings for higher education visits to be made a minimum of six weeks in advance.
