Why did you apply for the Summer Experience Internship?

I applied for a Summer Experience Internship because I was looking to gain experience in a real-life working environment and something which would look good on my CV.

What did you enjoy about the Internship?

I enjoyed every single aspect of my internship, I established professional relationships with my colleagues and supervisors and external companies while also developing personal relationships with other interns here in which we have could help each other learn and grow as a successful intern.

My internship has provided me with opportunities to learn diverse range of skills. Every day was different. Both my transferable skills such as Communication, Organisation, time management skills and interpersonal skills such as critical thinking and problem solving/ analytical skills has greatly improved and developed during my internship. It taught me how to behave and what potential employers are looking for in their employees.

What tips would you give to prospective students?

Honesty is the Key. If you are not aware of something, just admit it and advise that although you have no idea, you will be happy to take out research on this.

What support did you receive from Career Development Services?

The level of support provided by the Career Development Services is remarkable. They offer various workshops and talks to students throughout the year. The Careers staff helped to improve my CV and prepared me for job interviews by conducting mock interviews. The career fair provided for students is very valuable as it provides opportunities for them to network and expand their contacts. I recommend every student at the University of Bradford to make use of this service.

What actions are you taking to improve your employability whilst at university?

I am currently participating in a 12-month industrial Placement at Eclipse Legal

What advice would you give to your students about finding placement and work experience opportunities?

Do enough research about the company before applying. Try to match your CV and cover letter to the role descriptions of the job you are applying and make sure you prepare for the interviews if you are invited for one.

Any last words?

Just have fun and enjoy your time during your internship
