Biography

Smriti Kotiyal joined the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bradford in June 2021 as a KTP Associate - Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer. She is currently working on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project between the University of Bradford and London-based immigration specialists A Y & J Solicitors. The project aims to transformspecialist knowledge and expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning,and Knowledge graphs to develop a Decision support system to support UKImmigration cases.

Smriti comes from India, where she completed her early education and achieved her Bachor of Technology (BTech) in Computer Science Engineering in 2016. After her undergraduate studies, she joined the industry as a Systems Engineer in India for 3 years, dealing with production support and maintenance of the clients. This also included her working tenure in the client location in Melbourne, Australia. The experience included working with data handling, data migration via ETL servers, application migration to AWS, and maintenance of the adjoining applications.

In September 2019, Smriti joined the University of Bradford as a postgraduate student for MSc in Big Data Science and Technology. In her time here as a student, she worked on various projects as a research assistant, including the Developmentof a UI for the IAQ Monitoring project under the SCORE (Smart Cities and Open DataRe-use) Project and the Developmentof a Visual Analytics Solution for Public Health Data for a YHCR Region underthe Bradford Institute of Health Research (September 2020 – January 2021). She specializes in the application of data visualization and machine learning to propose, develop and deploy solutions to the stated problems, or identify new ones.

At present, she is actively working with knowledge graph technology and its utilization to build an AI system for her project.

In her leisure time, she likes to cook or go for hikes and reconnect with nature.
