Paul Hill

Biography

Paul Hill qualified as a social worker from Preston Polytechnic in 1988, having previously graduated from the University of Leeds in 1982 with a degree in Social Policy and Administration. He had a career in Local Government spanning 35 years, working primarily with children and families in a range of social work and managerial positions. For 10 years Paul established and managed the Bradford Safeguarding Children Board, taking responsibility for strategic multi-agency child safeguarding arrangements in the District. Between 2017 - 2021 Paul worked at the interface of safeguarding, criminal justice and public health, in a number of roles with West Yorkshire Police and the West Yorkshire Police & Crime Commissioner.

Paul has extensive experience of Serious Case Reviews and Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, Adult Safeguarding Reviews and Domestic Homicide Reviews. He joined the Social Care and Social Work Department of the University of Bradford in 2022 as an Assistant Professor.

Paul is actively involved in a number of voluntary ad governance roles relating to education, faith and safeguarding, including as a member of the Beckfoot Multi-Academy Trust and independent Chair of the Bradford Cathedral Safeguarding Committee.
