Biography

Nicole qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2004 and has worked in the NHS and private settings. Her specialist interest and skills lie within adult neurological rehabilitation with a particular interest in stroke. Nicole’s career commenced in Calderdale where she gained experience in Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Acute Stroke, Medicine and Elderly, Community Rehabilitation, Intensive Care, Respiratory and Surgery. She also worked as a Bank therapist for The Huddersfield Nuffield Hospital which was mainly elective orthopaedics and rehabilitation. Nicole started her MSc at The University of Nottingham in 2009 and specialised within the field of Adult Neurological Physiotherapy. Nicole worked as part of a specialist Stroke Rehabilitation Team in Leicestershire. Following completion of her MSc Nicole moved back to Yorkshire and returned to work at Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Trust where she helped set up the Early Supported Discharge Team for Stroke within the Calderdale Support and Independence Teams. Nicole also has experience of transdisciplinary working and training within the integrated NHS and Social Care Teams in Calderdale. Nicole commenced her lecturing career in September 2014 and has since completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Practice. She has set up a Student Supervised Neurological Physiotherapy Clinic to facilitate experiential learning with undergraduate physiotherapy students.
