Kristina Medlinskiene

Biography

Kristina is a programme lead for the Foundation Training Consortium. The Foundation Training Consortium is a partnership between University of Bradford, Imaan Healthcare, and Buttercups Training to deliver national training to trainee pharmacists in the North East and Yorkshire, North West, and Midlands. Kristina is also a Principal Pharmacy and Lead for Education & Training at NHS Humber Health Partnership.

Kristina’s work focuses on supporting others in their development and progression, whereas her research is very much so linked to her clinical practice of medicine optimisation and safe use of medicines and educational work. Kristina continues delivering patient-centred care and has gained experience in various sectors of hospital pharmacy including aseptic, elderly, cardiology, renal, surgery, respiratory, general medicine.

In 2022, she has been recognised by the Pharmaceutical Journal as 'Women to Watch 2022' for her work in implementing research activity and work on race equality in workplace. Kristina is a board member of NIHR Incubator for Pharmacy Research Professionals, is driving sustainable healthcare agenda in her roles and is a member of Pharmacy Declares.

Outside work, Kristina enjoys a good book, travel, and walks or hikes in the nature.

Research

Her PhD work entitled "Barriers and enablers to the uptake of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation". I am currently undertaking and supporting research related to pharmacy education, Team-Based Learning, deprescribing, pharmacogenomics, and medication safety/optimisation in secondary care and at transitions.


Teaching

Kristina is programme lead for the Foundation Training Consortium, which provides supplementary training to hospital trainee pharmacists in the North of England. Hear teaching utilises the Team-Based Learning (TBL) approach. Previous teaching includes: MPharm undergraduate students, physician associate students, and postgraduate students on MSc/PG Diploma Clinical Pharmacy (Secondary Care).
