I joined the School of Management at University of Bradford in September 2018 as Professor of Organizational Behaviour. I was the the Director of Postgraduate Studies until August 2020.
I obtained my PhD in field of Industrial, Work and Organizational Psychology from the University of Tilburg in the Netherlands on the topic of Trust in Organizations. I have previously held positions at Brunel University London in the UK, and at the Technical University Delft and University of Tilburg in The Netherlands. I am Academic Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD). I am also visiting Professor at the Research Institute of Personnel Psychology at University of Valencia in Spain.
My research focuses on trust in organizations and employees’ perspectives on HRM practices taking in consideration their impact on individual and team performance, innovation and well-being at work. I have won funding from various research councils and leading foundation bodies in different countries. While in the UK, I obtained funding from The Leverhulme Trust Foundation and from NASA - Johnson Space Center in the USA. I have also consulted with several organisations in the UK, Europe, and the USA on issues relating to organisational behaviour and performance. I am Visiting Professor at the University of Valencia (Spain).
My publications span across the areas of Organizational Behaviour, Organizational Psychology, and HRM. My work has been published in top-tier journals including the Journal of Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Group and Organization Management, and European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, among others. In addition, I have co-edited two major works sets published by SAGE on Trust and Social Capital in Organizations (2012) and Innovation and Knowledge Management (2010). I am a member of several international editorial boards of ABS 3- and 4-star journals and I have also served as Associate Editor for the European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology (2011-2018).
ResearchMy research spans across a variety of topic areas within the disciplines of Organizational Behaviour, Organizational Psychology and HRM. These include:
- Trust and performance at work
- Dynamics of trust and control in working relationships
- Innovation and creativity in the workplace
- Applicant perspectives to HRM practices (e.g. recruitment, selection, promotion and rewards)
- The impact of e-HRM on performance and employee well-being
I teach across the broad areas of Organization Behaviour, Human Resources Management, and Organizational Psychology. I have designed and delivered a variety of courses within these areas and I have been involved in several executive development programmes covering topics such as Leadership, Teamwork and Conflict Management.
My research has a strong quantitative base and involves longitudinal and/or multisource data. I have considerable experience in teaching and supervising topics that reflect the areas of human behaviour in organizations, at Undergraduate, MSc, MBA, and PhD.
