I currently teach the following modules:

  • ‘The Social Psychology of Intergroup Relations’
  • ‘Sociological Theory’
  • ‘Contemporary Debates on Society and Culture’

Research Areas

My main interests are in Sociological theory; Intergroup Relations and group psychology; interpersonal communication; identity and the limits of self-knowledge; sexuality.

I have a particular interest in the work of Nietzsche, Foucault, Weber and Freud.

I am currently developing work on ‘alcoholic identities’; the relationship between social policy and alcohol use; constructions and social representations of alcoholism in Britain.
