We combine empirical, theoretical and applied research with sustained engagement at international, regional, national and local levels to analyse, prevent and resolve conflicts and develop peaceful societies. We aim for an enabling environment for international research excellence involving diverse and critical approaches.
Peace Studies is committed to train new generations of peace researchers and has built a vibrant, supportive and critical research environment. With around 200 postgraduate students from more than 35 countries, including around 100 full-time and part-time research students and 35 staff, it is the world's largest university centre for the study of peace and is widely acknowledged to have a substantial impact on policy communities in Britain and many other countries.
We also welcome applications to our doctoral research programme. At any given time, over 15 doctoral research scholars are attached to Peace Studies. They are working on a wide-range of issues and topics.
