Partnerships with the Department of Psychology

Working with us

Our key partner is the British Psychological Society (BPS), the professional body that accredits our degrees to ensure that students graduate with the best possible employment prospects. The BPS prescribe a national curriculum, which guarantees quality and standards across the UK, standing as a kitemark of quality. Several of our academic staff hold key positions in the BPS, enabling us to shape the future direction of our discipline.

Another partner is NHS Education, who work with us to support our training of NHS professionals as Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners. This valuable partnership not only testifies to our quality but also facilitates the employment opportunities of our graduating students. We have partnerships with the Wolfson Centre for Applied Research and the Born in Bradford Project, both of which greatly enhance our research opportunities.

School's outreach

The Division of Psychology offer a range of outreach activities with local schools and colleges to share both our knowledge and enthusiasm for psychology. We are committed to widening participation in Higher Education and are actively involved in outreach schemes aimed at raising aspirations and attainment for those in secondary and further education. We also go out to schools and colleges and talk about studying psychology at degree level.

We have recently delivered presentations at several schools and colleges including Allerton High School, Rochdale 6th Form College, Craven College, Abbey Grange Academy, and Crossley Heath Grammar. The Psychology team was invited to deliver a one-day hands-on workshop in Krakow, Poland in early 2020.

If you would like to discuss how we can support your school or college, please get in touch by emailing Dr Ria Vaportzis.
