It has already been five years since I finished successfully my BA in Development and Peace Studies. For me it was a wonderful time in Bradford particularly in the Peace Studies department where I enjoyed a lot studying. After my degree I first went with my partner Vera De La Cruz Baltazar (we actually met at the University of Bradford) to Canada where she was a sabbatical replacement at Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario. After half a year in Canada we moved on to Guatemala where I was employed for three years by the German Development Service (DED). During that time I worked mainly with small coffee farmers giving them support to sell their quality coffee on the Fair Trade market in North America and Europe. After my work experience in Guatemala I started an MSc in Tropical and International Agriculture at the University of Göttingen, Germany, in the autumn of 2005. During this two year course I want to deepen my knowledge of social rural development, which I already obtained at the University of Bradford and in Guatemala.
