Travelling through countries such as South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique was for me a confrontation with what I learned in Bradford. I will never forget sitting at the table in a Zimbabwean farm, with the angry, sad and frustrated white owners, listening to their stories and arguments. I realised that this was the real arena to discuss, argue and resolve, and the safe classroom in Bradford was far far away. Also during my work at the World Summit I realised how it feels to be inspired by South Africans who have gone through such a complex history and are now managing to fight for real democracy.
